Cohen Library

Specializing in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Cohen Library is the main library of the CCNY Libraries system, maintaining the longest hours of all seven libraries, including 24/7 access during midterms and finals examination periods. Cohen Library spans 5 floors within the NAC Building, seats over 1,500 visitors, and offers several computer areas, a networked printer, scanners, and photocopiers. Cohen Library, in collaboration with the Accessibility Center, is also equipped with assistive technologies such as JAWS, Vocal-Eyes, Kurzweil 1000, and Zoom Text. The first floor contains the bulk of our print periodical collection and is shared with the Tech Center which offers computers, study rooms, and classrooms. The second floor houses the Circulation Desk and Reference Desk as well as our Technical Services and InterLibrary Loan Departments; and our Federal Depository Library Program government documents and reference collection. The fifth floor of Cohen Library houses our Reading Room and Archives Gallery, which hosts several exhibits and programs throughout the year. Floors 2 through 5 contain our circulating book collection. Cohen Archives maintains such gems as the papers of alumni Stanley Kaplan of Kaplan Test Prep fame and journalist John  Johnson. Cohen Library is the namesake of CCNY alumna Morris Raphael Cohen, who later became a well known professor of philosophy at his alma mater.
