NYPL logoThroughout the pandemic, the New York Public Library system has been expanding its offerings of online resources for researchers, students, and anyone interested in expanding their knowledge. In addition to Grab and Go services for physical books at some branches, their wide array of  online resources are available for anyone with a free NYPL account. Only the databases that CCNY Libraries does not already subscribe to are mentioned in this post; they are wonderful supplementary resources to the many databases that we offer.

Some databases have been expanded for remote access so that patrons don’t have to be present at a physical branch to make use of them. These include a suite of EBSCO databases such as:

The following specialized business databases are also now available remotely:

If you’re doing historical research, one of these newspaper archive databases might be of interest:

Or, maybe you’re planning on taking a graduate (GRE, GMAT, LSAT, or MCAT) or professional (NCLEX or PRAXIS) exam. NYPL’s Learning Express Library includes dozens of practice tests, tutorials and eBooks to support you, now available remotely.

Some other exciting resources that you can access through NYPL include the genealogical database Ancestry and Flipster, an app through which patrons can access hundreds of popular magazines from the New Yorker to Sports Illustrated.

And of course, through NYPL you can access hundreds of thousands of ebooks and audio books, including many foreign-language academic eBooks in the humanities and social sciences through CAIRN (French), Digitalia (Spanish), and Torrossa (Italian and Spanish).

In addition, you can browse through the NYPL’s fascinating collection of digitized items at https://digitalcollections.nypl.org/

If you don’t already have a New York Public Library card or account, you can get one online!
