FRANCES CHEN TRAVEL AWARD

PURPOSE

The intent of the Frances Chen Travel Award is to enhance the professional development of librarians in the United States and Canada who serve academic architecture degree programs by providing financial support and professional recognition. The award defrays travel expenses for in-person attendance of the annual AASL Conference, provides free membership to AASL for one year, and provides a registration fee waiver for the annual AASL conference. 

The award is named to honor the memory of the late Frances Chen, a long-time librarian at Princeton University’s School of Architecture Library whose regular presence at AASL's yearly conferences added joy as well as a seasoned professional perspective.

AWARD BENEFITS

1. The amount of the award is up to $750.00 to defray travel expenses to the annual conference. 

2. Conference registration fee waiver.

3. Waiver of annual AASL membership fees for a period of one year. 

ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS

1. Any current AASL member who has belonged to the organization for a period of three years or less or any current AASL member who is a first time attendee of the annual conference is eligible to apply.

2. Applicants must be professionals employed as an information or visual resources specialist serving faculty and students in an academic architecture program.

3. The recipient of the award must confirm by e-mail that they are able to meet the requirement of in-person conference attendance.

4. The recipient of the award will submit a brief post-conference report for posting on the AASL Website. The report should outline conference activities and experiences and include an account of how the award supported professional development goals.
