Humanities Databases

Once you have searched and (hopefully) found some useful items using the OneSearch discovery tool, you should move on to databases.

Databases are like baskets of journals and other publications that focus on a specific subject or discipline.

You can narrow down your choices in the A-Z Database List found on the CCNY Libraries homepage by subject or type if you wish.

If you search your subject in a database, you will generate a list with fewer articles than in OneSearch, but they may be more relevant.

Below is a short list of recommended humanities databases and below that are links to Ebook databases.

Ebook Databases

City College's Ebook holdings are discoverable in OneSearch along with our print books.

If you want to focus your search on Ebooks only so you can read right away, you can search directly in our major Ebook collections - Ebook Central, EBSCO Ebooks, Springer, as well as the Spanish language book collection Digitalia Hispanica. Links below.
