Latin American and Caribbean Studies: Reserve Materials

Reserve Materials

Reserve books can be searched in the CUNY+ online catalog. Write down the call number and take it to the appropriate Circulation Desk where the staff will find and check out the item to you. Most reserve materials can be checked out for 2 hours at a time.

Putting books on reserve (for instructors and faculty):

If you would like to place books on reserve, you can either:

(1)  send an email to, with the course number, course name along with the title and author of the specific books you would like to be placed on reserve;

(2)   come to the circulation desk and fill out a Reserves Form.

If the books you need to reserve are currently within the college’s collection, they will be placed on reserve within 3 business days.

If the books you require are not already owned by us and need to be ordered, there is a delay in how quickly they can be ordered. This depends on whether the library has available funds.

Gifted copies are welcomed and encouraged to be placed on reserves for the benefit of all CCNY students.

Searching for Books on Reserve:

Not all professors put their materials on reserve and sometimes there is a delay in the system between when a professor puts an item on reserve and when it shows up in the online catalog.

If the book/video is not listed in the online catalog, check with your professor to find out if/when they put the item on reserve.

For other types of reserve readings, link to full-text articles and documents using the Blackboard course page for your class.
