The CCNY Book Club had its first meeting of the semester in late September to discuss Michelle Obama's book, Becoming.
The discussion got i
ntense! One of the ideas we explored was the effect that family/community expectations have on each of us. We talked about how much Michelle had to sacrifice for her husband and family. Someone asked, "How would the world be different if it was all a matriarchy?" We had a very good discussion.
The next meeting will be held in Cohen Library, Room 5/337 on Thurs, Nov 14th from 1-2pm. Right now, there is a poll on social media to vote for the next book:
