Policies

Students, Faculty, & Staff

CCNY members with a current, valid ID may access all CCNY Libraries during operating hours. Visitors with valid IDs from other CUNY campuses may also access CCNY Libraries during operating hours.

Alumni

CCNY alumni with valid alumni ID cards may access all CCNY Libraries during operating hours.

Visiting Scholars

Visiting scholars from other academic institutions may apply for on-site access to the City College Libraries while they are in New York City. There is no remote access to the CCNY databases outside of the library.

The following documentation is required:

  • Current academic credentials
  • A copy of the scholar's identification card from the home institution
  • A letter of introduction from the scholar's home institution, signed by his/her department chairperson
  • A brief statement of the research project for which access is requested

To apply, please submit this documentation, three weeks in advance of arrival, to:

Retired Faculty

Retired CCNY faculty may access databases on-site, as well as borrow CCNY books and request material via both CLICS and ILL.

For retired CCNY faculty to use the library:

  • Get a letter from your Department signed by the Chair or a Designee verifying your employment at CCNY
  • The letter must also indicate that you are now retired
  • Take this letter to the ID Office in the NAC Bldg, along with a picture ID (driver's license or passport), and your most recent college ID
  • You will receive a standard CCNY ID card
  • Bring your new CCNY ID card  to the library Circulation Desk in order to activate your library privileges

Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library with a current, valid Friends ID may access all CCNY Libraries during operating hours.
