CUNY Libraries Inter-Campus Service (CLICS)

The CUNY Libraries Inter-Campus Service (CLICS) allows students, staff and faculty in good library standing to borrow materials from libraries anywhere within the CUNY system. Watch a video here to learn how to request books through CLICS.

Who can use CLICS?

  • Any CUNY undergraduate/graduate students, faculty and staff with a current, unblocked library account may use this service.

How long will it take to get my book?

  • Every CUNY library receives daily inter-campus weekday pick-up and delivery service. Most books arrive within 3–5 business days. You will be notified by email. Notices automatically go to your City College email account.

What kinds of books can I request?

  • Regular circulating books may be borrowed from any of the libraries within CUNY or books already checked out to another patron from your home library. You cannot request that a book be pulled from the stacks of CCNY Libraries and be delivered to the Circulation Desk. CLICS only works for books going from one CUNY campus to another. You cannot request books to be delivered to the same library they're coming from.
  • Oversized, closed stacks, reserves, music scores, DVDs, CD-ROMs, journals, reference material, archives, special collections and master's theses CANNOT be shipped to other CUNY libraries.

Can I renew my CLICS books?

  • Renewal policies vary by campus; usually, renewals can be made through your online library account and are allowed if the book is not already overdue or if there isn't another patron requesting the book. Circulation and overdue fine policies of the lending library apply.

What if there are no CUNY Libraries that own the book I want?

  • If your book cannot be found at any CUNY, or if all copies have been borrowed, you may use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to borrow books, book chapters and other materials from outside of CUNY.

Can I use CLICS from home?

  • Yes. You can search and request from OneSearch using any browser from any location. OneSearch recognizes your home campus by your library barcode.
