CCNY Libraries seeks to support remote instruction and expand our collection by exploring streaming film platforms. We have activated a one-month trial of the popular streaming service Kanopy that will run through October 9, 2020. In addition to Kanopy, we have launched streaming service trials for the exclusively non-fiction collections Film Platform (through October 16, 2020) and Docuseek (also through October 16th). We encourage students and faculty members to take advantage of this limited access to the platforms before the cutoff dates, after the which the Libraries will consider its options for acquisition. If you are a faculty member and would like to suggest a particular film or streaming service, please fill out this form since we plan to come to a decision by using these requests alongside usage statistics.

The Kanopy collection includes over 22,000 films college faculty prefer, from exclusive partners The Criterion Collection, Media Education Foundation, Kino Lorber, Psychotherapy.net, and many other acclaimed producers and distributors. It features a City College landing page that students and faculty can access directly at https://ccny.kanopy.com/ or on the Library's A-Z Database List. The page features a red Log In button that directs patrons to the CCNY Libraries proxy login page for entering CCNY email and password information to gain access to the content.

Film Platform and Docuseek (available on the A-Z Database List as of September 18th) each offer curated lists of films preferred by professors. Docuseek hosts films from well-known documentary distributors BullFrog Films and Icarus Films  and includes the recent John Lewis documentary and Worlds Apart, a series investigating health care across cultures.
