Public Health: Inter-Library Loan (ILL) & CLICS

CUNY School of Public Health

Inter-Library Loans (ILL)

ILL is used to request books or articles that are not available through any library in the CUNY & SUNY system.

If you have logged in to the CUNY proxy but are still encountering pay walls on an article, you have probably found material that is not a part of CCNY's subscriptions and you will therefore need to request it via ILL. If you are unsure about this please contact the librarian to confirm that we do not have access.

Please visit CCNY's ILL information page for more information.

To make an ILL request:

  1. Go to the ILLiad first time user page to make a new account. This account is unique to ILLiad, you will create your own username and password. If you already have an ILLiad account, go to the Logon page.
  2. Fill out the required fields, note that you must use a CUNY email address.
  3. Log in and go to the New Request box on the right side of the page.
  4. Click “journal article” and fill out the required fields. Most of this information can be found in the citation of the article you are requesting. Beyond the required fields, fill out what you can.
  5. Submit request and the article will be delivered to your account usually within 24 hours.
  6. Please contact ill@ccny.cuny.edu if it takes long than you expect or have any technical issues.

CUNY Libraries Inter-Campus Loan Services (CLICS)

Use CLICS to request BOOKS ONLY from other CUNY & SUNY libraries. Please see CCNY's CLICS page for more information.

Please note that it is not possible for books to be delivered to the SPH building at 55 W 125th st. You will need to have them sent to the City College Cohen Library (or any other CUNY Library of your choice) and books can be picked up there at the circulation desk. See this page for more information on the location and hours of the Cohen Library.

Requesting a book:

  1. Locate the item in OneSearch.
  2. Choose the CUNY Library which owns the book you need. You may request circulating books from any CUNY library for delivery to any other CUNY library.
  3. Click on Request.
  4. Log in with your CUNY Single login credentials (the same as for CUNYFirst).
  5. Click on the drop-down arrow to see all the CUNY Libraries. Select the CUNY library where you want to pick up the book. You can have the book(s) delivered to any CUNY library. For SPH students, the book must be picked up from CCNY's Cohen Library.
  6. If you will not need the book after a certain date, enter that date in the Period of Interest field.
