by Sarah Cohn on 2019-10-29T16:55:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

Facial Marks: Aesthetics & Function is an exhibition curated by City College alumnus Chukwuemeka Bosah and featuring works by Folasade Adebowale, Halima Abubakar, and Sunday Chukwu.

Marks – especially on faces – have symbolic, aesthetic, and functional meanings among the various tribes of Nigeria. The work of these artists in painting and photography captures what is a disappearing element of life in Nigeria.

The exhibit is now open in the City College Archives, Cohen Library 5th floor. Full exhibit dates are October 28 - December 13, 2019, Monday to Friday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.

There will be an opening reception on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, which all are welcome to attend.
