Since the launch of the Music department’s Popular Music Studies BA program in 2019, I have been working with music faculty to select titles that reflect the diverse range of musical styles and perspectives examined through courses like MUS 24100 Minstrelsy to Rock ‘n’ Roll and MUS 24200 1960s to Today, as well case studies like MUS 31104 Grateful Dead and MUS 31103 Hip Hop. The resulting collection highlights how the Music department “combines historical perspective with a contemporary view of music and the liberal arts.” [1]

The latest batch of books supporting coursework and research in the field of Popular Music studies are now available at the Music Library and through our subscription databases. To browse the list of new print and ebooks, please visit the Recent Acquisitions page of the Music Research guide.
