NYC Public Libraries

What can public libraries do for you?

New York City has three of the largest public library systems in the country: the New York Public Library (with branches in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island), Brooklyn Public Library, and Queens Public Library.

  • Public libraries offer books and ebooks--including a huge selection of novels, short stories, graphic novels, and poetry, as well as non-fiction books on all kinds of topics.
  • They provide peaceful places to study (and some may be open when the CCNY libraries are not).
  • They offer free classes for adults, teens, and kids, cultural events, and tech resources--including computers, printers, and photocopy machines.
  • If you live, work, or go to school in any part of New York State, you can get free library cards from all three.
