Accessibility Resources & Services: Access Library Material

A resource guide for library accessibility and assistive technology available at the City College of New York.

Sevices

The CCNY Libraries offer accommodations to better serve patrons who may have various accessibility challenges.  Many of the Library's resources can be accessed remotely from the Databases A-Z. We encourage patrons to contact the AccessAbility Center/ Student Disability Services to register disability for services.

Accessible Library Services

Patrons are welcome to stop by the library reference desk or contact us in advance for special accommodations on library accessibility services.
Reference Librarians may help you find books, navigate databases, and offer guidance on the library's collection and services. The libraries are committed to meet such accessibility requests in a timely manner; response time may vary depending on staff availability.
Services include, but are not limited to:
  • Research assistance
  • Help locate and retrieve library material from the shelf
  • Printing, scanning and/or photocopying assistance
  • Help with assistive technologies
  • Individual consultations - Contact Librarian Subject-Specialist to make an appointment
Assistance is via phone, live chat, Text-a-librarian: (646) 350-2717, Ask a Librarian, or email reference@ccny.cuny.edu. To avoid delays in service that occur during peak service periods, or to receive individual assistance with extensive research projects, students with disabilities are encouraged to schedule a research consultation with a reference librarian by completing the Research Consultation Request Form.
