Civil Engineering: Dams

This section of the U.N. Environment Programme reviews the development effectiveness of large dams and develop internationally acceptable criteria, guidelines, and standards for large dams by promoting a dialogue among all the stakeholders (governments, residents, builders, environmental groups, and so on) on either side of the dam debate. This web site describes its programs, has a calendar of events, and has links to various documents and reports.

ICOLD advances the art and science of water resources through dams and to develop them in a technically safe, ecologically and socio-economically sustainable manner. Their web site has position statements, links to related organizations, conference information, and a searchable database of the bibliographic records of the documents presented at the 20 ICOLD congresses.
