This guide is designed to help you search for, and discover, useful resources around International Studies. Use the links below to jump right in.

First, we recommend you do some background research on your subject. At this point you are looking for the people, organizations, events, and issues related to your subject.

Start by using the New York Times, Foreign Policy, or the CFR.Org to find current issues and the people involved with your subject. A general web search will also help. A reference resource like The World Factbook from the CIA offers background information, demographics, and data about countries - including their leaders and political parties.

Once you have some pre-research done, search your subjects in OneSearch on the Library homepage and then move on to Databases.

Follow the tabs on the left for links to Databases, Inter-Government Agencies, Books by Region, and more .

New York Times dotcom
Search The New York Times website and, if it's a major subject, the site sends you to a landing page with all the relevant stories on that subject. It's a great way to see latest developments in the news. Activate CUNY subscriptions for NY Times digital at http://nytimes.com/passes or on the Database A-Z list.
CIA World Factbook
Country profiles from the CIA's World Factbook offer baseline information on countries. Discover the names of Political Parties under the "Government" tab. Very useful.
Council on Foreign Relations / CFR.org
A nonpartisan think tank with robust content. Like the New York Times, this site delivers landing pages. Type in a country and it delivers timely articles with very good links. Click the links.
