Welcome to the City College Libraries Latin American and Caribbean Studies LibGuide
We aim to provide CCNY students, staff and faculty interested in Latin American and the Caribbean, an easy start to access books, articles, databases and more on this topic.
First Steps:
- OneSearch
- A great place to start your research, whether on campus or remotely.
- Enter a few keywords and evaluate the results.
- If you get too many results, try the filters on the left side. For example you can specify a range of years, a language, if online, etc.
- If you retrieve too few results, try more general keywords. For example, instead of "Alfonsina Storni" try "Argentine female poets".
- We also recommend Ethnic NewsWatch which will yield bilingual (English and Spanish) newspapers, magazines, scholarly journals, all published in the US. If you are unsure of what keywords to use, just go to the "Publication" tab and browse titles available.
- If you still feel a bit stuck, try browsing the online Encyclopedia of Latin American history and culture that highlights key events and peoples.
- Lastly, check out CCNY's own renowned Dominican Studies Institute Library where you can find a plethora of research with dedicated librarians to help on all matters Dominican and beyond.
