On 5 August, President Boudreau notified members of the CCNY community of our very first Community Reads! Project, inviting the college community to join in reading Isabel Wilkerson’s book The Warmth of Other Suns. The book is an account of the Great Migration of the 20th century as experienced by three African Americans who left the South for northern and western cities. Isabel won a Pulitzer Prize for her writing in 1994 and she was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Barack Obama in 2015. All of us at CCNY are very excited that the author will be the speaker at this year’s Freshman Convocation tomorrow, Thursday 17 September.
