March: Book One coverBy Nilda Sanchez-Rodriguez and Emily Pagano

Please join CCNY Libraries in partnership with the Department of Student Life for a series of engaging book discussions on the following Mondays this semester, 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm:

October 5th | November 2nd | November 30th

CCNY library staff will be guiding the group towards a meaningful experience that supports a love of reading and of literature. One of the most important benefits of these events will be the ability to connect with friends and classmates, which is especially valuable while we are physically apart. This event will be a great opportunity to loosen up while learning among friendly faces from the comfort of your personal space, and with no traveling required!

The first book selection is the graphic novel March: Book One by John Lewis along with Andrew Aydin and illustrated by Nate Powell. This book is part of an autobiographical trilogy told through the perspective of Lewis, the late civil rights leader and U.S. Congressman. We hope that this work will spark stimulating discussions on the civil rights movement and the March on Washington in the 1960s, as well as the meaning of this history to our current world. This virtual space is open to diverse perspectives on the readings, and intends to foster social interactions. CCNY Librarian Professor Trevar Riley-Reid will be leading our first discussion on this award-winning book. Registration details can be found on the flyer below. We look forward to seeing you there!
