Dear All:

As we settle into the busy rhythms of the Fall semester, I wanted to send a quick welcome and welcome back to everyone, from those of you who are CCNY veterans to the new folks joining us, for what promises to be an exciting, and perhaps challenging, academic year.

Like most of you know, this is my first full semester as Associate Dean and Chief Librarian, having joined the CCNY Libraries on May 1st. It has been a true pleasure getting to know some of you over the summer, and working with you to start laying the groundwork for the necessary changes we need to make in order to move the libraries forward. I’m excited to get to know, learn from, and collaborate with more of you as the year progresses.

Over the coming months, we will be involved in discussions regarding future renovations, library and campus wide strategic planning, libraries centered fundraising, collection development and assessment, the mission(s) of the libraries, and much more. We have the opportunity to use our collective knowledge and experiences to forge renewed and intentional paths for the libraries even in the midst of the ongoing challenges that CCNY and CUNY face.

Key to our movement forward will be the leadership that all of you have already demonstrated which has sustained the libraries thus far. Even in the midst of staff shortages, budget cuts, and other forms of adversity, the personnel of the CCNY Libraries have persisted and managed to successfully serve campus, CUNY, and local communities. As your Associate Dean, Chief Librarian, and advocate, my primary goal is to do my best to create the conditions for you to flourish as individuals, professionals, and leaders, and to doggedly protect your ability to thrive at CCNY. Together, we can be a force on campus and throughout CUNY.

I wish you all a wonderful Fall semester and academic year. Remember that I’m here to support you and that my door is always open.
