Digital Collections

The City College of New York Archives and Special Collections reflect City College's legacy through its students and faculty, events held on campus, and the Harlem community. Select collections have been digitized and are available on JSTOR including CCNY Anti-War Notices, Alumni publications, historical publications of CCNY, and collections from the Dominican Studies Institute at City College. Access to JSTOR is available to CCNY patrons. Other digitized collections, listed below, are available outside of JSTOR. For non-CCNY affiliates, please contact the archives for access.

Digital Exhibits

Select digital collections include a corresponding digital exhibit created by faculty and students of CCNY. These exhibits provide historical context to the collection, exclusive photographs, and bibliographies.

Langston Hughes Festival
The CCNY Archives and Collections Library is the repository for material related to the festival. The Langston Hughes Festival explores the literary legacy of the poet laureate of Harlem, James Langston Hughes (1901-1967).
Ravi Shankar Course Lectures and Papers
Ravi Shankar taught two courses on the history and theory of Indian classical music at CCNY in the fall of 1967 semester. All lectures and campus concerts were recorded and are accessible in the CCNY Archives & Special Collections.
The Japan Connection: 150th Anniversary of Townsend Harris' Arrival in Japan
Celebrating the founder of City College of New York and the first diplomatic representative in Japan, Townsend Harris. Featuring photographs and monographs held at CCNY.
CCNY Anti-war Notices 1934-1936
This collection of ephemeral flyers, newsletters and news articles were circulated at The City College of New York primarily between 1934 and 1936, with some items created and circulated as late as 1941.
Student Political Activism of the 1930s and 1940s
This online exhibit features ephemera largely produced and disseminated by student-led political organizations in the 1930s and early 1940s, in the years leading up to and including WWII.
The Student Political Activism Collection was produced by The City College Libraries with support from Project Sesame, a collaborative effort of Long Island University’s Palmer School of Library and Information Science, The Institute of Museum and Library Services, and The City University of New York Office of Library Services.
Russell Sage Foundation
An online exhibit celebrating the centennial of the Russell Sage Foundation supporting social sciences research by sponsoring conferences and scholars. Some materials featured in this online exhibit may no longer be available at CCNY.

Starting Monday 5/13/24, CCNY Libraries will return to regular hours. Access is limited to CCNY ID holders only. Library services are available online, including research help and InterLibrary Loan.
