Student Publications
Copies of five City College Student Publications were digitized due to the generous support of the City College Alumni Association and the City College Fund. The issues of the CCNY Tech News, The Paper, The Messenger, The Campus, and the April Fool’s issue titled The Crampus can be accessed below. If anyone has additional issues of The Crampus, they would be gratefully received by the City College Archives.
The Campus is a publication that covers events that occur at the College and issues of concern to the community. It was founded in 1907 and was published as a monthly magazine through 2019 and is one of the oldest continually-published student publications in the U.S. Current staffers meet in room 1-119 North Academic Center, but they still conduct meetings that go late into the night in order to produce an issue. On October 26, 2005, The Campus entered the electronic age with the debut of that issue at www.ccnycampus.org

CCNY Tech News was founded in 1954 by students from the School of Engineering, but during the period of the Five Demands Protest in the spring of 1969, African-American students took over the editorship of that paper and re-titled it The Paper in 1970 and changed the focus to issues of concern to the African-American community.
The Messenger was founded in 1998 by students affiliated with the Guillermo Morales/Assata Shakur Community and Student Center. This center was closed in 2013 by the administration of former City College President Lisa Coico.
The Observation Post was founded in 1947 by World War II veterans who enrolled at City College.
