Chemistry: Journals

The American Chemical Society (ACS) publishes 38 journals and magazines covering all aspects of the science of chemistry. Index and abstract information is available for all of these publications. Full text is available for 33 of the titles. With the exception of Chemical and Engineering News, all of the ACS journals are scholarly, peer-reviewed publications oriented toward senior or higher level readers. Nevertheless, several of the journals have sections of non-scholarly articles of possible interest. The ACS journals are only a starting point for any chemistry search. The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) publishes 19 journals covering a full range of topics in chemistry. Full text is available for 13 of these journals plus their predecessor titles; tables of contents and abstracts are available for the other 6. All of the RSC journals are scholarly, peer-reviewed publications oriented toward senior or higher level researchers. The RSC journals are only a starting point for any chemistry search. Science Citation Index Expanded includes most of the major chemistry journals. However, this database is only a starting point for any chemistry search, because only Chemical Abstracts; Scifinder Scholar (see the DATABASES tab) provides in-depth indexing and complete coverage of all fields of chemistry. Here is an opportunity to get your work rapidly publicized and seen. Also, unlike most scholarly journals, you can contribute negative or failed results to save valuable time for other researchers. Nearly all scholarly chemistry journals will accept for publication preprints posted here. But authors should always check the instructions for authors for the specific journal they are considering. Wiley InterScience is a database consisting of journals, reference works, and online books. All subject areas are covered including some important chemistry journals.
